No longer in the Bx...

So I hit some spots before I left the Bronx to do some photos of the local color. Even got some shots od the MOS 2010 Bx wall. Seems like it was a small turn out this time out. But I got what was put up. I'm on a slower computer as my beast desktop is still on a truck to where I am now.

So I'll be posting shots but they'll be coming slowly for now...

If you got full alphabets or tutorials on graff related items. Drop links, so they can be added into the favorites. The idea that EACH ONE TEACH ONE. There will be some that don't make it. Only means I ain't seen it yet, or it needs more work.

If you really about the artform, you should want it to get better. Rather then seeing the same ole same ole.

So you have a way of making mops that don't catch notice, make a tutorial. Or anything like that. Could be someting along the lines of how you developed your style. Such as... therealsevastra.deviantart.com…

While we aren't telling anyone to break the law with anything learned here, we think information can be free.

Opera Gallery

1 min read
Here in NYC there is this gallery at 115 or is it 116 Spring street... Nope it's on the odd numbered side of the street. Make that 115 Spring street here in NYC there are some canvases by writers you know and maybe some you don't but should. Plus art work by other types that fit the street artist cat, such as Ron English who has a piece in the front window. Getting there is easy, Spring street stop on the 6 line, Prince Street stop on the N-R-W lines, B'Way/Lafayette stop on the F-V-B-D lines will put you close enough to hop skip or jump to the gallery. Best part of this plan is there is NO CHARGE to get in and look around. There is a downstairs so don't skimp on exploring the place.

Besides Ron English I saw Le Frek RAT, Saber, Futura and a few other people that deserve mad respect for what they have brought to the culture.

Piece Book:The secret drawings of graffiti writers.
By Sasha Jenkins & David Villorente
ISBN# 978-3-7913-3896-5

It's a hard cover book that looks like a blackbook and has all sorts of writers from back in the day. You see some previously unpublished art straight out of some of their blackbooks. It's mostly US writers. So we are talking 70's 80's and the like. This book will help new writers and might remind some older heads about some styles they have forgotten. If you collect art books related to writing such as Subway Art and Spraycan Art. This is a must have becuase it drops you further back into the process.

AND NOW..... the sequel

Piecebook Reloaded: Rare Graffiti Drawings 1985-2005
Sacha Jenkins & David Villorente
ISBN# 978-3-7913-4317-4

The guys liked the project so much they did it again. Hard cover book and it's like having some of the best writers bombing your book, there are some full page double page spreads, you got tags they even ventured into some sticker art as well. They made some improvements on the second go. At the end of the book has a list of who did what and sometimes with which tools they used. So if there is a style you can decypher it'll give you hint, on that letter construction.

Personally I think you should already have the first one. Either one stands alone as a great reference book or even historical reference to what writers do in a black book. I say search the sofa and find your loose change and get it. Side note if you got a significant other that's into the writing culture, an excelllent gift these books would make.

Other business, thanks for the adds the new dev-stalking all the watchers have been cool. Also appreciate the favs on the photography stuff especially. As I guess that's my art on the account, the photography of others.

Till then piece outside!

I dropped a few more shots on you.

It's for the Meeting of styles in the Bronx. The shots are from the 07 Meetings, they usually updated in September. However this year the NYPD did an end run around the event. Asking the building owners not to allow the event to happen. I'm not completely aware of the details the whys and why nots involved. So cheers to Charles, Erotica and Cope2 for putting this jam together. Damm shame we won't see an 08 MOS.

That said. I want to give a shout out to another deviant on this site.

He pointed out another website that gives some information in regards to writers and style. www.subwayoutlaws.com So if the site has something that moves you. Your thanks for finding it goes to GarbageCat
